The growth of two major plants in Enterprise will mean the closure of a couple of railroad crossings.
A traffic study concluded that two railroad crossings off Daleville Avenue can be closed to accommodate Wayne Farms and Pilgrim's Pride.
The Wiregrass Central Railroad requested the closings to accommodate increased activity at the two poultry processing companies.
Wayne Farms recently added 125 new jobs as a result of the growth.
Several members of the community asked that the crossings be kept open, but this week, the city council voted to start legal proceedings to close them.
