After years serving in education from being a middle school teacher to writing grants, Charlotte Kirkland-Williams is ready to take on a new challenge.
In front of an audience made up of all ages; Williams announced she is running for the state school board district two seat.
Williams explained that she is very passionate to give children a well-rounded education like the kind she grew up with.
“Education has opened door after door after door. Now I had to work to get it, but I know that it is the key, and it is not the key to making money, but it is the key to happiness. Now, I know that sounds trite, but it's true," said Williams.
District two covers 14 area counties. The election is June 6.
