Members of the Houston County sheriff's department are honored for all their hard work.
The Alabama Association for Retired People held a luncheon Thursday honoring the sheriff's department.
Thursday is AARP's spirit of service day and they felt it was time for the department to get attention for all the hours of hard work they put in to protect houston county.
The men and women were treated to turkey and dressing along with an array of homemade desserts.
“I hope they feel happy that we chose them. We are letting them know that we appreciate what they do for us,” said Agnes Daniels, President Houston Co. AARP.
In the past the Dothan police and fire departments have been honored by AARP in addition to those working at the extend care nursing facility.
