Covington County Sheriff's department is about to earn money through its jail operations.
The Covington County Commission signed an agreement with the U.S. Marshall's office to provide the service. The feds' will pay the county $45 a day for every prisoner incarcerated in Andalusia.
Sheriff Dennis Meeks says it will bring in a total of around $325,000 next year.
That money will help save taxpayer dollars and provide essential funds for law enforcement.
The 12-year contract with the federal government also splits the monies' evenly between the sheriff's department and the county general revenue fund.
