Alabama's Lt. Gov. Lucy Baxley is paying a visit to the Wiregrass this week to drum up support for her race for governor.
Earlier Tuesday she made a stop in Ashford for a campaign rally after visiting her hometown of Pansey.
The Wiregrass native served two terms as Alabama's state treasurer before becoming the first woman to be elected as Alabama’s lieutenant governor.
During her visit, Baxley emphasized the importance of public service. She says it is her calling to serve the people of Alabama, those who live in the big cities and those who live in the country.
Baxley will continue her tour of the Wiregrass Wednesday with scheduled stops in Ozark, Headland, Abbeville and Dothan.
