Alabama Governor Bob Riley's goal to link every high school in the state to a video conferencing system is almost a reality.

ACCESS Distance Learning allows students in smaller schools to take classes offered in larger districts.

Thursday, Governor Riley sat in on a Spanish class being offered at Florala High School, but the teacher is at T.R. Miller High in Brewton.

Through interactive video conferencing, the students in Florala are part of the class.

Riley says Alabama leads the nation with this type of technology.

"With access, distances learning you can have the exact course taught in say a classroom here in Florala, as you do in Birmingham. It allows students the opportunity to take all kinds of courses they normally wouldn't have been able to do it," said Riley.

As part of Governor Riley's education platform, ACCESS Learning puts all children on the same academic playing field.
