A woman convicted of third-degree murder and criminal conspiracy in a 1992 fatal stabbing in Chester, Pennsylvania has been captured in Ozark after 11 years on the run.
Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey said officers arrested 44-year-old Michelle Crews Haslem at an apartment Tuesday.
Ozark police were alerted by Pennsylvania authorities that Haslem was in the area. Investigators determined she may have been in Ozark over a year, but the investigation was incomplete until a call from the State Penitentiary of Pardon and Paroles closed the book on the case.
“They established information from a source that she was possibly that we do not know of that gave information that she was possibly in Ozark," said Chief Spivey.
Haslem is being held in the Dale County Jail, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
Authorities say Haslem was paroled November 4, 1994 and fled in May 1995, with two years left on her sentence.
