Tropical Storm Fay continues to move toward the Wiregrass and is expected to bring with it heavy rainfall.

Houston County officials are working to prepare for minor flooding and road concerns.

The National Weather Service is estimating that the Wiregrass will receive anywhere from five to seven inches of rain from Friday afternoon through Sunday.

We are no longer concerned with major flooding in this area, but there are some precautions emergency workers are asking that the public be aware of.

Captain Chris Etheredge with the Dothan Fire Department said, "Our emergency responders throughout the Wiregrass are prepared to deal with whatever dangers the storm brings with it."

Emergency officials are still not sure what to expect from Tropical Storm Fay, but say residents should start preparing now for possible mild to moderate flooding.

Etheredge added, "Those residents in the Wiregrass living in low lying areas and flood prone areas need to keep an eye out and be prepared to deal with possible rising waters."

Residents living in the Panhandle of Florida can expect between 10 and 12 inches of rain.

While rainfall will be much less in the Wiregrass, officials are still planning for some emergency responders to be on stand by.

Chief John Powell with the Dothan Police Department said, "We want to make sure the lines don't get inundated with non-emergency calls; they're for emergencies only."

While officials are asking that you not call 911 for weather information, a help line will be established if necessary.

Incident action plans are in place to deal with any flooding issues that may arise throughout the Wiregrass.

In anticipation of possible flooding in the Wiregrass, many schools are letting out early on Friday.

Several schools will be letting out at 1PM Friday, including Dothan City and Houston County Schools, Emmanuel Christian, Providence Christian, Geneva City and County Schools, Beulah Land Christian Academy and Henry County Schools.

Ashford Academy will be closing at noon.

Sschool officials will continue to update their plans as the storm approaches.

In Florida, all Calhoun and Liberty County Schools will be closed on Friday.
