Dothan taxpayers could see a tax increase or some new fees soon because city commissioners are looking at some expensive projects that could require more revenue.
For instance, garbage pick-up in Dothan is currently free, but City Manager Dennis Rubin said closing the old city landfill and opening a new one could cost about $10 million.
A new solid waste study is expected out within the next few weeks, and city commissioners have to make sure that revenues meet expenses.
Right now, a hiring freeze is in effect and the city is focusing on some cost cutting measures.
Rubin did say commissioners already have information on how to raise revenue without over burdening taxpayers.
A vote could come later this summer.
