Houston County School Cuts

Houston County school officials said big cuts are coming next school year.

Superintendent Kenneth Lord has to find a way to cut $1.8 million out of the budget to meet Gov. Riley's proposed budget plan.

That means sports programs and extra curricular activities will not get any aid from the school funds next year.

Educational programs will also fall victim to the budget cuts.

Lord said he regrets the cuts, but they have to happen since Houston County can't come up with enough revenue.

Lord also said another tax proposal isn't out of the question if the public would vote for it.
