A dream came true Sunday for many Wiregrass residents and supporters of the arts. The Wiregrass Museum of Art marked the opening of the third and final phase of a 10-year project.

It includes the conference center equipped for 200 guests in the upstairs main hall. The well-equipped two-story facility is ready to hold conferences, reunions and receptions.

But museum officials said they still need the help of the community through museum memberships and corporate sponsorships.

Former museum director Sam Cates said local people must keep the arts alive, funding from the government can't do it all.

For more information about becoming a member or booking an event at the museum's conference center, visit their Web site at www.wiregrassmuseumoart.org or call 794-3871.
