Starting next Thursday, August 21st and going through Sunday, it's gator season on Lake Eufaula for some select hunters.

Forty alligator hunters will try their luck later this month after selection in a drawing earlier this year.

Wildlife officials say every year, hunters not selected, try to participate anyway, resulting in fines. Also, many try to take the hunt onto the Wildlife Refuge where it is not allowed.

Aurora Thomas, with AL Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries said, "They will cross those lines, because they know the alligator is there. So, it's an easy opportunity to see one other than going doing their homework and finding out where about up in the creeks that they're hanging out at."
