Dothan Holocaust Memorial Day

Members of Dothan’s Jewish community gathered to remember their fallen brethren, who died during the holocaust.

More than 60 people gathered Monday night at Temple Emanuel in Dothan to commemorate holocaust memorial day.

At the ceremony, U.S. Army photographs of the death camps were put on display along with six lit candles, each of them representing one-million murdered Jews.

During the service, members of the congregation read the names of holocaust victims out loud.

Rabbi Larry Mahrer who presided over the ceremony says he believes that many of today's world leaders have not learned the lesson made clear by this horrific period in human history.

This is the 11th consecutive commemoration of holocaust memorial day.

And Rabbi Mahrer says that he plans to hold this ceremonial event for years to come.
