Houston County District 1 Commissioner Curtis Harvey wants to be re-elected.
Harvey has been in office since November of 2004. He was completing the term left vacant by retired Commissioner Wiley Yelverton.
Now Harvey's card is up, and he's asking citizens to put the same trust in him again. He wants to help get a better countywide water system, and embrace the marketing strategy for city of Dothan.
He says the biggest challenge for his district is communication.
“The biggest challenge facing my district is having people aware of what local government is all about and having us work together and mainly us sticking together and knowing that there's more than one issue at hand,” said Harvey.
Harvey has Democratic opponents, Dr. Myland Brown and Benny Griffin.
The primary election is June 6.
