Opening arguments got underway at the Geneva County courthouse in the Richard Jenkins murder trial.
Both prosecution and defense attorneys agree on one thing...on the night of March 20, 2004, Jenkins was meeting with Mike Brown to buy cocaine.
Brown, 22 years old, was found fatally shot in the head inside his vehicle in Geneva’s Radio Hill community.
The defense claims there was a second person inside Brown's car who committed the murder, and that Jenkins was not involved in the killing.
The state is not asking for the death penalty, but, if convicted, would like Jenkins sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.
The trial is expected to run into next week.
