KFH Is Opening A Plant In Dothan

KFH industries announced they will be opening up a fire hose production plant in Dothan.

A tool used by firefighters will soon be produced right in the Circle City.

KFH Industries announced they will be opening up a fire hose production plant in Dothan.

The new plant will not only be producing fire hoses, but all the other components that go along with them. These products will be sold not just here in Dothan, but all across the world.

A new 17-acre site here in Dothan, located along Columbia Highway, will be the company's second manufacturing plant here in the U.S.

Company officials have already started to move in to the new facility, which happens to be the old "London International Group" building, where condoms were produced for years, until the plant closed down back in 1999.

The company chose the particular site to open up their second domestic manufacturing plant after seeing that it was on sale on the Internet.

With the help of city officials and members from the Dothan area Chamber of Commerce, the new plant will eventually hire 200 workers.

"It is a great day for us. We are always excited when we can announce new jobs in our community. To me, as elected officials, it is if not the top priority we should have, one of the top priorities for sure is providing good, high paying jobs for our constituents," said Mark Culver, Chairman of Houston County Commission.

The company vice president said that with the opening of this new plant, he expects KFH industries to become the largest fire hose production company in the world by producing 25 million feet of hose each year.

Company officials say they plan to begin operations within the next couple of weeks, and that the plant will be fully operational this summer.
