Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan has been recognized for its patient care.
The agency for health grades research and quality awarded the hospital for its care and safety measures.
The study is based on 13 patient safety indicators.
The medical center is ranked in the top 5 percent nationally for individual hospitals.
“We've been focusing on patient safety and working with our physicians and our employees for some time now trying to improve the quality of care we provide for our patients. So it's quite a distinction,” Rick Smith, SEAMC VP Marketing & Public Relations.
The hospitals selected as "distinguished hospitals" for patient safety, average about 43 percent less patient safety incidents than other facilities.
