The Dothan Police Department may soon be looking to hire a few "more" good men and women.
Chief John Powell said his department has been staffed with just fewer than 160 officers for more than five years now.
However, he said steps are being taken to help the department keep up with the circle city's growth.
"The city manager and the city commission are looking at ways to identify funding to increase the staffing levels to address the additional demands for service that's being placed on our community. And once again, that's just being driven by the fact that we are growing," said Police Chief John Powell.
Chief Powell said a hiring freeze has been lifted and his department is currently looking to fill six vacancies.
