Former Mayor Chester Sowell has announced plans to run for Houston County probate judge. He served two terms as mayor of Dothan, and was seeking a third term last year, but was defeated by then district five commissioners, Pat Thomas.
Sowell says if he is elected his first order of business will be to improve the way county residents get their car tags.
"Obviously number one is tag lines. We're going to do some work with the tag lines. We're going to provide better technology for the employees that are down there. And I'm going to sit down with the employees, each of the employees, and I'm going to ask them what they think is best to improve that office," said Sowell.
Sowell also says that if elected he plans to have the tag office open until late at night, at least one day a week.
