A Dothan woman charged with capital murder in the death of her own baby is expected to stand trial later this year.
Nineteen-year-old Shakira Thomas gave birth to a baby girl in July of last year.
The infant's body was found a little more than a week later in a garbage bag behind the home that Thomas shared with her parents.
She was back in court for a pre-trial hearing Thursday.
Defense attorneys have filed more than 30 motions in the case, including one to suppress the statement Thomas gave to police.
Prosecutors contend that Thomas originally claimed the baby was still-born, but later changed her story in a taped statement to investigators.
Judge Lawson Little said he hopes to set the case for trial sometime this fall.
