Geneva Police have arrested more than a dozen middle school students this week.
The teenagers reportedly broke into homes, concession stands and businesses. Police Chief Frankie Lindsey said many of the children believe the whole thing is a joke.
A few days before Christmas last year, a plastic Santa Claus was taken from the front porch of this Johnson Avenue home.
After arresting several juveniles on a burglary this week, they confessed to burying the Santa under the stands at Geneva High School football field.
Police said 15 juveniles ranging from 12 to16 were involved in breaking windows at the old senior center.
They are now charged with nearly two dozen burglaries and break-ins. Geneva police said juvenile affidavits have been signed for the suspects.
The cases are expected to be sent to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
