Farmers Market Closing For The Season

There are only a couple more weeks left to visit the farmer's market at the Houston County Farm Center.

Farmers say it has been a successful season and they have been selling out of their produce.

The scheduled date for closing that particular location is August 2nd. It is earlier than last year's end date.

Even though the market won't be set up much longer, there are still ways top get fresh and local produce.

Farmer's Market coordinator David Bell said, "When the market closes you can get in contact with your farmers and go to the farm and pick up stuff- you know whatever is left. We'll have peas later on and watermelons and different stuff."

Organizers of the farmer's market at the First Assembly of God on Highway 84 West in Dothan say they should be running until August 28th.

That market is open Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
