A Houston County woman is in jail Monday, after being charged with elderly abuse against her invalid husband.
Fifty-year-old Ramona Thrasher Ormes was arrested Saturday, after county sheriff's deputies were called to their home by a neighbor.
Neighbors were concerned because 77-year old William Ormes had not been seen for months and his wife would only visit him for a short time, and then leave him alone.
William. Ormes was found by sheriff's deputies laying in a bed in the back of the house.
"He was in a total disarray of an environment. There was stench, urine...he was in a bad diaper, he could not care for himself, he could not roll over, and he could not sit up. He was in critical condition to the untrained eye," said Houston County Sheriff Lamar Glover
William Ormes is being treated at a Dothan hospital. He is in the custody of the Houston County department of human resources as an "adult in need of protection."
Ramona Ormes has been booked in the Houston County jail under a $25,000 bond.
