Slocomb Rescue Squad

Now that Slocomb's Rescue Squad is back in business, residents are looking for ways to keep them that way.

Two days ago, a news conference was held to announce the reestablishment of the squad.

Thursday night concerned citizens and city officials planned activities that could generate money for the department.

The Rescue Squad Fund-raising Committee has drafted a letter to community organizations, churches and businesses seeking financial support.

Last January, the squad closed its doors because of financial and personnel problems.

Now the department has a staff of 14 and is ready to provide service 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.

Another fund-raising committee meeting will be held March 24. They will discuss ways to get additional funding for the rescue squad. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Slocomb Community Center. The meeting is open to the public.
