Elba Assault

arrest

Elba police have arrested a man who allegedly forced his way into a woman's apartment and held her at knifepoint.

Police received a call around 12:45 a.m. Monday about a disturbance at an Elba apartment complex.

The woman managed to escape but was dragged back into the apartment, where the intruder barricaded the door with furniture. Police had to forcibly enter the residence to arrest 37-year-old Phillip Musgrove.

He resisted the arrest, and officers had to use pepper spray to subdue him. He bit one of the officers in the struggle. Musgrove also kicked out the rear windows of the police car.

He's being held in the Coffee County Jail and faces charges of burglary, kidnapping, assault and criminal mischief.
