Authorities in South Carolina may be another step closer to identifying a murder victim who could be from Dothan.

The decomposed body of a woman was found near a rest stop on Interstate 20 in Darlington County, South Carolina back in August of 2000.

Investigators determined she had been murdered.

Officials think the victim may be a Dothan woman who was reported missing in 1999.

Police have reconstructed the murder victim's appearance and forensic scientists are trying to come up with a DNA match.

The coroner's office has also issued a subpoena for the Dothan woman's military dental records.

The subpoena has been sent to the national military personnel records center in St. Louis.
