A man accused of bilking dozens of area business and individuals out of thousands of dollars has been found guilty by a Geneva County jury.
Donald Lashley was charged with theft of property by deception. Two years ago, he and his wife left town following a failed business scheme.
Allegedly, the couple left a trail of bounced checks and phony investments across the Southeast.
After three hours of deliberations, a six-member jury returned three guilty felony verdicts, which could lead to a sentence of life in prison.
Lashley will be sentenced at a later date. He's expected to be extradited to Tennessee and Arkansas to face similar charges.
