Gov. Bob Riley wrapped up a news conference in Montgomery in which he talked about his trip this past weekend to Iraq.
Riley was part of a U.S. delegation headed by Arizona Senator John McCain.
Riley spent most of his time in Iraq visiting soldiers from Alabama.
Riley talked with members of the 690th Chemical Company of the Alabama National Guard.
The 135 Mobile-based soldiers were mobilized in October.
Riley says the troops he met with were "positive and very upbeat."
Members of the delegation also met with high ranking Iraqi officials and expressed the need to form a national unity government.
