A Geneva County man convicted of manslaughter last summer has been released from jail under a $15,000 bond.
Circuit Judge Carles Fleming released Franklin Herring on an appeal bond from the Geneva County Jail.
The 60-year-old is appealing his manslaughter conviction to the court of criminal appeals in Montgomery.
Last June, a 12 member jury convicted Herring of fatally shooting Travis Thames following a party on Halloween night, 2003.
In his ruling, Judge Fleming writes Herring is not a flight risk or a danger to the community.
