Troy State Consolidation

After 116 years of educating Alabama students from campuses around the state, all of Troy State University's locations have now become one.

Officials are calling it "one great university." The idea creates one university with one name, while keeping the individual Montgomery, Dothan and Troy campuses.

The new deal means the Montgomery and Dothan campuses will no longer be separately accredited institutions, after the consolidation has taken place.

Students will be able to transfer credits from one campus to the other, and there will be more cultural and economic opportunities.

With the merger, Troy State will eclipse the University of Alabama to become the second largest university in Alabama.

It is also expected to save TSU $16 million over the next decade.
