Coin Robbery Suspects Arrested

The Coffee County sheriff's department along with Troy and Elba police have arrested the suspects in Sunday’s robbery.

David Bryan Stallings, 33 years old, and 27-year-old Misty H. Nelson, both of Troy, are in the Coffee County jail charged with burglary first degree and robbery first degree.

Bond has not been set for the couple.

Police say the two went to a home in the Jack community Monday afternoon.

After firing off a .22-caliber rifle, the couple reportedly broke into a car and stole rare gold coins like this.

The value of the 1890 coins is reportedly in the thousands of dollars.

Several of the coins have been recovered.

The victim, Danny Hudson, remains in the Coffee County Jail on several crystal-meth related charges.

Sheriff Ben Moates says Hudson had drug chemicals in his vehicle when authorities were gathering evidence on the stolen coins.

After returning to Hudson’s home, police say they found a boxed up meth lab.

Bond for Hudson has been set at $300,000 for manufacture of a controlled substance and one thousand dollars for possession of drug paraphernalia.
