A Reported Victim of a Crime Finds Himself in Jail

Coffee County Sheriff's Department investigators simply describe the case as extremely bizarre.

Police say a man and woman went to a home in the Jack community Sunday afternoon. After firing off a 22-caliber rifle, the couple reportedly broke into a car and stole rare gold coins.

The value of the 1890 coins is reportedly in the thousands of dollars.

The suspects are both from the Troy area. They’ve been identified as David Stallings and Misty Nelson. Authorities believe they may now be trying to pawn the coins.

The reported victim, Danny Hudson, is now in the Coffee County Jail on several crystal-meth related charges.

Sheriff Ben Moates says Hudson had drug chemicals in his vehicle when authorities were gathering evidence on the stolen coins.

Authorities are on the lookout for David Stallings and Misty Nelson. Police say Stallings is armed and considered dangerous.

If you know the whereabouts of the couple, call the Coffee County Sheriff's Department at 894-5535.
