Tuesday night, the Dale County School Board voted to move seventh and eight grade students at Newton Elementary to Southdale Middle School
The decision upset many parents with students at Newton Elementary.
Upset parents said transferring their children to a different school is completely unnecessary.
However, school officials said, Newton Elementary school has nearly doubled in size over the past five years and classroom space is getting tight. On the other hand few miles down the road, Southdale Middle School has empty classrooms.
Concern parents could not believe that their elected school officials turned their backs on them.
Some parents say because of Tuesday night vote they may be pulling their children out of the Dale County School system
School officials say they will stick by their decision, but parents say their fight to keep their children at Newton is far from over.
