Floyd’s motion for a new trial has been denied.
Circuit judge Larry Anderson’s ruling in the case against Christopher Floyd was officially filed Monday morning at the Houston County courthouse.
Floyd was convicted in January of killing 49-year-old Archie Crawford during a robbery at a Store South of Ashford in 1992.
Investigators testified Floyd confessed to the crime.
The same jury that convicted Floyd also recommended the death penalty.
Floyd claimed he had a witness who saw another man with blood on his clothes near the scene of the crime the night of the murder.
Judge Anderson ruled the information did not warrant a new trial.
Floyd’s death sentence is automatically being appealed under Alabama law.
