The Dothan Police Department is looking to hire civilians to work as criminal investigators.
After a crime occurs, investigators are tied up with not only gathering evidence, but keeping and storing it during trial.
The personnel board has approved for two civilian crime scene investigators to work with the Dothan Police Department. This will free up investigators immediately after a crime.
“We will have to find several schools, and the ones we have applied for the position, they have some training already and we will in turn find other schools for them to attend and get the further training that they'll need,” said Dothan Police Lt. Tommy Martin.
The Police Department is accepting applications for crime scene technician.
