McLeod Trial Update

Twenty-five-year-old Freeshone McLeod of Gordon is facing up to life in prison for rape and attempted murder. And at his trial Tuesday, the six-year-old victim identified him as the man who attacked her.

McLeod is charged with rape and attempted murder. The victim was just six years old when the crime was committed in October of 2001. She was beaten with a wok lid and is still disabled from the attack. A state DNA expert says the girl's blood was found on McLeod's clothes.

The victim's blood and the wok lid were found in McLeod's mobile home near the little girl's residence. Witnesses told investigators McLeod helped find the child in some bushes near her house. But prosecutors contend his own DNA links him to the crime.

A state fingerprint expert is also expected to testify. Prosecutors are expected to rest their case Wednesday.
