Geneva County Animal Control

A number of Geneva County residents say it's a disaster waiting to happen. Reportedly, packs of wild dogs are roaming the rural areas and threatening livestock and people.

A petition for an animal shelter is now being circulated throughout the area.

Outside the Geneva County Courthouse, people gathered to demand action. Several had pictures of stray dogs on or around their property.

Bellwood resident Sheri Branning has started a petition to establish an animal shelter in Geneva County. By state law, she says the county is obligated to provide animal control, something that hasn't taken place.

The cities of Hartford and Samson have their own dog pounds.

Over recent months, several elected officials have stated that there's not enough money to open an animal shelter at this time.
