The city of Dothan’s Leisure Services has received a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic And Community Affairs for a new miracle field.
A miracle field is a baseball and softball field for individuals with special needs, who under other circumstances, wouldn't be able to play in a competitive game.
The 560 thousand dollar grant, will be used to place an all turf field just adjacent to property next to Westgate Parks Recreation Center.
It will feature a concession stand, and bathroom accessibilities.
Currently, there are three such fields in Alabama.
They are located in Montgomery, Moody, and Culman. Construction on the field will begin in February of 2007.
It will take about four months to complete.
