This Saturday and Sunday Opp Jaycees hosts an event that features two days of arts, craft and food -- needless to say one of the main courses is a sampling of fried or grilled rattlesnake.
Opp Jaycees President Tammy Weeks said proceeds from the rodeo are used to fund numerous charities in south Alabama.
Weeks said dozens of volunteers have spent the past few weeks hunting for the venomous Eastern Diamond Rattlesnake. Most of the reptiles are released after the festival concludes.
In the 44-year-old history of snake handling for this event, no one has even been bitten.
Opp is located on US 331.
