College Tuition

Tuition at Alabama's community colleges, already among the highest in the South, apparently is going up again.

Thursday, the Alabama Board of Education voted unanimously to allow community colleges to raise tuition to as much as $68 per credit hour, up from $60.

The median annual tuition at Alabama community colleges is $2,040 compared to $1,400 at other community colleges in the South.

Only Maryland's average is higher.
