If your child attends school in Florida, what she or he is allowed to wear to class might be changing.

A statewide student dress code is on the agenda for the legislative session that starts next week.

House education leaders are promising lots of firsts for public schools.

They said a compensation plan for teachers and administrators will be proposed within two weeks. There will also be discussion of legislation intended to give teachers more authority in removing disruptive students from classrooms.

House Speaker Johnnie Byrd got the ball rolling by mailing thousands of letters across the state asking for input on issues.
