The city of Destin employees are in a stronger position to save a life should someone have a heart attack while at City Hall, the Community Center, the library or the Morgan Sports Center.
City officials say that's because several staff members at each facility have been trained to operate automatic external defibrillators, which have been installed at each of those locations.
The action is part of the community’s Heart Ready initiative, whereby the city has placed AEDs throughout its facilities and have the people trained to use them.
The devices send an electronic shock to restore the hearts of people suffering cardiac arrest.
