A U.S. Department of Justice survey indicates 1-in-5 children receive sexual solicitations online. But a new National Center for Missing and Exploited Children program aims to catch, arrest, and convict online predators.
The Dale County Sheriff's Department is one of 10 sites chosen in Alabama to participate in the program. And through ICAC's investigations, they've collected extensive files of predators online activities.
The Internet service provider sends law enforcement an IP address, and they can locate the home from there. They then use computer programs that uncover hidden files, videos, and pictures.
Since the program began, in Dale County alone there are 20 cases currently under investigation.
