This week, a new $3 million health science building opened on the campus of Chipola Junior College. The new facility will allow the Marianna school to nearly triple it's nursing program enrollment.

The program provides a curriculum rich in classroom and hands-on training.

Because people are living longer, Health Science Director Kathy Wheeler said the need for more health care professionals is critical.

Chipola officials said the reduced tuition rates have caused an increase in the enrollment of students from both Alabama and Georgia.
