The fire department in the unincorporated town of Fadette in Geneva County lost it's brush truck more than a month ago
The brush truck helps battle outdoor blazes, like grass and woodland fires.
Tuesday night, State Senator Harri Ann Smith of Slocomb presented a $5,000 grant to cover the cost of buying a new truck.
"Eighty percent of our calls are in response to woodland and grass fires without this equipment we were taking our main engine and rescue truck and having to use them which aren’t properly equipped,” says Chief Robert Herring.
Herring says the department will use the grant to purchase a brush truck from Ashford’s Volunteer Fire Department.
It will allow Fadette’s volunteers to resume their response to outdoor fires and assist in mutual aid
