Lampkin Sentence

A Dothan man who was on the run for more than 10 years before being convicted of murder has been sentenced to 99 years in prison.

Vincent Lampkin was found guilty last month in the 1990 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend.

He disappeared the night of the shooting. But police found him working as a barber under an assumed name in New Orleans two years ago.

Defense Attorney Derek Yarboro said Lampkin had never been in trouble before and asked for leniency, but District Attorney Doug Valeska wanted a maximum sentence.

Judge Jerry White handed the maximum sentence of 99 years behind bars.
