The Dothan city commission has approved plans to rename 6 blocks of Chicasaw Street to honor a late community leader.

Reverend Rochester Johnson senior died in 1992.

He was a well-known pastor at one of the oldest and most popular black congregations in the city of Dothan.

First Missionary Baptist Church still stands today, and its members are keeping the vision Reverend Johnson had.

That vision was to unite the community through peace, education, and community service.

The ceremony to change the 6 block stretch will be this Friday, February 10 at 3 o' clock in the afternoon.
