By the year 2013, Dothan residents could be voting for all public officials at the same time.
Dothan city commissioners Monday approved to have city attorney Len White draft legislation on the matter.
If approved by the state, elections for the mayor, city commissioners, school board chairman and board members would be held at the same time.
It would take effect in 2013, and be held once every four years.
Officials would then be elected the 2nd Tuesday in September, and take office the first Monday in October.
