Republican state Senator Harri Anne Smith, who had considered running for governor, said today she won't and threw her support to Governor Bob Riley.

Smith, a two-term senator from Slocomb, made the announcement with Riley at his Montgomery campaign headquarters. Her decision left ousted Chief Justice Roy Moore as Riley's lone opponent in the GOP primary on June sixth.

Smith said she will seek another Senate term from her southeast Alabama district.
