Oral arguments are scheduled this week in the appeal of a Dothan man who was sentenced to die for killing an elderly woman.
22-year-old Antonio Jones was charged with the New Year’s Eve 1999 beating death of 80-year-old Ruth Kirkland.
DNA tests revealed the woman's blood was on his clothes.
The same jury that convicted Jones also recommended the death penalty.
Before sentencing Jones to die, Judge Jerry White called the crime the worst he's ever seen after nearly 40-years in the criminal justice system.
Oral arguments are set for Tuesday before the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals in Montgomery.
